Trinexus Announces New Platform That Will Help Hospitals in Puerto Rico Obtain and Report Reliable Quality Metrics

Hospitals in Puerto Rico are challenged to comply with federal government measures of meaningful use that include implementing a certified electronic medical record and the reporting of clinical quality measures. These measures are also necessary for compliance with health and safety requirements for participation in Medicare programs; meeting the requirements to obtain accreditation from the Joint Commission, and comply with the validation of information ("attestation") to achieve federal incentives.

The process to obtain these quality indicators is usually manual, where physical reports must be integrated, knowledge in SQL, departmental interventions, in addition to some data extractions from the electronic medical record (EHR) are required.

For this reason, hospitals need to use a tool that allows them to automate the process and display the data in a panel illustrating all quality performance indicators with real, current, and reliable data. This allows decisions to be made assertively and faster.  It avoids incurring additional expenses or loss of money, achieving goals faster, such as CMS star rating; and better patient service.

Due to this local need, Trinexus is offering "Trinexus Performance Measurement Services," a professional services and data management platform that will help hospitals easily understand and report quality metrics. The professional services include training and customer support in using the tool and with industry best practices, including updates to the metrics that apply to the hospital. This platform uses the Medisolv tool, a leader in quality measurement reporting to CMS.

In Puerto Rico, thanks to this platform and Medisolv tool, Doctors' Center Hospital has reduced costs and the time to obtain and report metrics and has achieved a clear identification of quality metrics in its hospitals.

In the professional support services, "Not only is the platform ideal for what we required, but the knowledge of the team to tell us what metrics apply to Puerto Rico and what tables we needed to be able to comply has been very valuable in reducing the time invested in the implementation and easy maintenance of it",  said Ms. Jomiel Albor, Project Manager at Doctors' Center Hospital.

Ms. Frances Pérez, Nursing Informatics at Doctors' Center Hospital, shares "Using quality points, it is easily identified if the doctor is prescribing the required medications after the patient's discharge. These drugs help the management of patients by preventing readmission and working on the prevention of their health."

Mr. Pedro Ríos, Chief Information Officer of Doctors' Center Hospital emphasizes the following, "This platform is 'data-driven', offers data analysis, and allows us to go straight to make decisions and take action."

The platform is implemented in several parts of the hospital that are integrated to maintain quality levels, such as the technology department, quality department, medical faculty, and pharmacy.

With Medicare's requirement for the delivery of electronically obtained metrics, the request for specificity in the data, being able to make patient samples electronically, and the process of attesting are considerations for "Trinexus Performance Measurement Services" to be an ideal solution for hospitals to comply reducing time and costs.
